#66 - Universal Themes - Water Temple, Emotions, and Love of Learning

Hello Readers!

This week we are taking another look at some of the Universal Themes that the game Ocarina of Time contains in it’s story progress. I make a relationship between this and the common human because I think the entire game is about Human Development aka. “Growing Up”. And so many of the themes, music, and experiences that one will have with game are going to be central to human life. This week we are looking at the concept of love. Love go just beyond falling in love with a partner and/or marriage. People can experience love for many different circumstances such as:

-Love for one’s craft or profession.

-Brotherly or Sisterly Love for one’s friends.

-Altruistic love for mankind.

-Love for one’s possessions.

-Animal Love or love for something that we take care of.

-Love in Marriage.

-Love in a partner or significant other.

There’s a lot of instances of love. And so this theme can be as Universal since it is experienced by all humans and has been spoken about across cultures, generation, and time. So how does this relate to Ocarina of Time? Well in the Water Temple, Link goes on a journey through this temple and is encountered with the element of Water in many forms. Water in all of it’s different variations can be equal to emotions. People experience all kinds of emotions when one falls in love and they can go to all sorts of different places. Emotions though cannot be taken as a primary way of making decisions though. And so people are torn by how they feel in a certain situation or relationship, and what is the right thing to do.

From here I can go forth and make a relationship between our emotions and how we feel about learning and studying! The other love that we should have is a love of learning! The love of learning needs to be fostered and channeled on a personal level. Individuals also benefit from having a deep interest in their topics and exploring everything that is in them in depth. These are some of the important things that foster life long learning in a person.

Well that’s all I have to really say for this week, Hope you all have a nice Spring Break!
